Cabinet decision on renewal of work permits for foreign workers

The Cabinet Resolution on September 24, 2024 approved the Management of Foreigners’ Work B.E 2024, which renews work permits for foreigners holding passports or passport reissue documents, allowing them to work in the form of an MOU until February 13, 2025. This is a requirement that foreigners who are allowed to reside and work in Thailand until February 13, 2025, according to the recent Cabinet Resolution, can apply for permission to reside and work in Thailand for a period of 2 years, and can be extended for another 2 years, for a total of 4 years.

Cambodians and Myanmar nationals do not have to travel outside the country. Renewing a work permit under the MOU system, Laotian and Vietnamese nationals must travel outside the country before February 13, 2025. If they wish to return to work, they must come to work under the MOU system.

Steps to renew the work permit for foreign workers whose work permit expires on February 13, 2025

  1. Register in the system
  2. Identity verification
    • Upload documents such as copy of house registration, ID card, photo of business premises, etc.
  3. Create a Request Form
    • Employer info, business location, and foreign worker information
    • Foreign worker frontal photo, passport page, etc.
