Work permits for foreign workers from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia that will expire on February 13, 2025 can be extended for another 2 years. After 2 years, they can be extended for another 2 years through the MOU system.
* During the entire renewal process, Cambodian and Myanmar workers do not have to leave Thailand. However, Laos and Vietnam must leave and re-enter Thailand.

What happens if a labor work permit expires while they are applying for a work permit renewal?
If a work permit renewal application is submitted before the work permit expires, the foreign labor can temporarily work until the government notifies the result. Generally, the result is available within 3-7 working days.
When all documents are submitted and the fee is paid, the work permit renewal registration can be used as evidence in lieu of the work permit until the work permit is received.
If work permit has expired, Is it possible to apply for renewal?
Work permit renewal applications must be submitted 30 working days before the work permit expires. Expired work permits cannot be renewed.
What happens if a labor works with an expired work permit?
Foreign labors whose work permits have expired and who have not applied for renewal within the validity period will not be allowed to continue working. If they continue to work, they will be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 3 months or a fine of not more than 5,000 baht, or both.
Which foreign labors can apply for renewal of work permits?
The government allows the renewal of work permits for foreign labors whose documents are about to expire. This depends on the orders of the government working group.
