What is Myanmar CI (Myanmar Green Passport)?

CI (Certificate of Identity) is a personal identification document issued by the Myanmar authorities. It was created to solve the problem of illegal entry of Myanmar nationals into Thailand. The Thai government therefore established a foreign labor registration system to collect information on foreign labors and produce CI documents to prove the nationality of the country of origin and produce correct personal identification documents to solve the problem of illegal entry of foreign labors.

Advantages of Myanmar CI

It is an identity document, CI can be used like a passport when entering and leaving Thailand and Myanmar, but it cannot be used in other countries. CI can be used together with work permit documents to register bank accounts and apply for social security.

Process of applying for Myanmar CI

Step 1: Process before entering the center

1. Staff will contact the counter service point to pay the identity certificate (CI) issuance fee and make an appointment for the date and time to enter the center.
2. Documents required:
   • Copy of work permit before February 13, 2025, including the ID number and work permit number.

Step 2: Conducted at the Myanmar Labor Work Integrated Management Center

1. Employment Ministry official checks labor credentials
   • Required documents:
     • Copy of work permit before February 13, 2025
     • Proof of health insurance
2. Issuance of Personal Identification Document (CI) by Myanmar authorities
   • Check evidence, interview, collect data
   • Issuance of Personal Identification Document (CI)
   • Issue of Worker Identification Card (OWIC)
3. Immigration officials store visa status for temporary residence
   • TM.6 form and TM.87 form
   • Two 1.5-inch photos
   • Personal Identification Document (CI)
   • Copy of work permit and employer document
   • Visa fee of 500 baht
   • Evidence of identity storage (if any)
4. Employment Ministry official updates labor information in the system
   • Provide opinions and suggestions on legal work-related operations
   • Update document number/issue date/validity information of Personal Identification Document (CI)
